Lala Lajpatrai College of Law, in collaboration with Anjuman-I-Islam’s Barrister A.R. Antulay College of Law, conducted two specialized certificate courses to enhance students’ legal knowledge and practical understanding. The first course was on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), conducted by Advocate Lehar Shah, with a duration of 30 hours, focusing on the fundamentals and practical aspects of IPR. The second course, Banking Law and Negotiable Instruments, was held from 9th to 18th March 2025, and was led by Ms. Lata Pooja and Advocate Ishtiaq Ali. These courses aimed to offer students value-added learning beyond the academic syllabus, equipping them with insights into evolving areas of law and preparing them for practical application in the legal field.

During the academic year 2024–25, Lala Lajpatrai College of Law organized a series of insightful guest lectures and workshops aimed at enriching students’ academic and practical knowledge. On 25th September 2024, a seminar on “Financial Fitness for Future Success” was held to promote financial literacy and investor awareness.. A series of guest lectures followed in the second term: on 4th January 2025, Dr. Chhaya Shah spoke on “Consumer Protection,” and on 6th January, Advocate Savitri Dhanesha addressed the importance of “Legal Language.” Advocate Namrata Maru delivered a lecture on “White Collar Crimes” on 8th February 2025, followed by a session on “Women Empowerment” by Advocate Shaili Mazoomdar on 8th March. On 10th March, Advocate Anshul Shah conducted a lecture on “Arbitration,” and the academic year concluded with a workshop on 18th March 2025 titled “SEBI Investor Awareness Program” led by Prof. Aiman Masood. These events offered students valuable insights into contemporary legal and financial topics, supporting both their academic growth and practical understanding.

As part of experiential learning, Lala Lajpatrai College of Law organized several field visits during the academic year 2024–25 to provide students with practical exposure to the legal system. On 2nd January 2025, students visited the District Legal Services Authority to understand its role in ensuring access to justice. This was followed by a visit to Agripada Police Station on 6th January to observe police procedures and FIR registration. On 10th and 13th February, visits were organized to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the Bombay High Court, where students observed live court proceedings. A significant learning experience was the visit to Byculla and Arthur Road Jails on 22nd February to understand the prison system. Students also visited the Family Court on 13th March and Mazgaon Court on 31st March to gain insights into civil and family law matters. Additionally, on 4th February, students visited the Forensic Medicine Department at Nair Hospital, where they learned about the role of forensic science in criminal investigations. These visits greatly enhanced students’ understanding of the practical aspects of law and the functioning of various legal institutions.

Lala Lajpatrai College of Law celebrated various cultural festivals during the academic year 2024–25 to promote India’s rich heritage and foster community spirit. The festivities began with Ganesh Chaturthi from 7th to 17th September 2024, marked by daily prayers and enthusiastic participation by students and staff. Navratri and Dussehra in October featured special prayers and vibrant cultural performances. For Diwali on 30th October, the college was beautifully decorated with lamps and rangolis, and a pooja and staff lunch were organized. A New Year celebration was held on 30th December to honor the non-teaching staff. Lohri was celebrated on 13th January 2025 with traditional songs, dances, and a bonfire. The following day, Haldi Kumkum was observed by female staff members in true Maharashtrian tradition. On 8th March 2025, Women’s Day was commemorated with cultural performances by students focusing on women empowerment. These celebrations created a joyful and inclusive atmosphere, enhancing the cultural vibrancy of the campus.

Commemorative Days

Lala Lajpatrai College of Law marked several commemorative days during the academic year to honor national heroes and celebrate India’s rich heritage. Independence Day and Republic Day were observed with patriotic enthusiasm through flag hoisting and cultural events. The college paid homage to visionary leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Constitution Day reminded students of the importance of constitutional values. Tributes were also paid to reformers such as Savitribai Phule and Jijabai for their contributions to education and empowerment. Lala Lajpatrai Punyatithi, Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, and Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti celebrated courage and leadership. Marathi Bhasha Divas fostered love for regional language and culture. These celebrations nurtured patriotism, respect for history, and social awareness among students.

Certificate Courses

Students Achievement

Students of Lala Lajpatrai College of Law showcased commendable performance in both academic and extracurricular activities during the academic year. In intra-collegiate events, the Essay Writing Competition held in October 2024 saw enthusiastic participation, with Ms. Sherein Nelson Dsouza (F.Y.LL.B) and Ms. Kratika Sharma (S.Y.LL.B) winning top honors, along with Ankita Karmarkar and Zeenat Kalwat securing second and third prizes respectively. In inter-collegiate events, students achieved notable success—at G.J. Advani College of Law, Sherin Dsouza and Shilpa Agarwal were runners-up in the Case Law Competition. At Lords Universal College of Law, Sherin Dsouza won first prize in Essay Writing and was runner-up in Moot Court, while Shilpa Agarwal was also a runner-up in the same event. In sports, the Annual Sports Meet held on 14th January 2025 at University Pavilion, Marine Lines, saw enthusiastic student participation, and Prof. Deepak Pawar brought pride to the faculty by winning first prize in a staff event. These achievements reflect the students’ well-rounded development and active involvement in both legal and co-curricular spheres.

Moot Court and Mock Parliament

Moot Court and Mock Parliament are practical training tools widely used in legal education to develop students’ advocacy, legal reasoning, and public speaking skills. At Lala Lajpatrai College of Law, intra-class Moot Court and Mock Parliament competitions were held on 31st August 2024 to enhance students’ legal and legislative competencies. Students prepared arguments, drafted memorials, and engaged in simulated legislative debates. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and showcased excellent oratory and analytical skills. Sherin Dsouza, Shilpa Agarwal, and Tejas Pawar emerged as winners for their outstanding performance. These activities provided valuable experiential learning, boosting confidence and fostering a deeper understanding of the Indian legal and parliamentary system.

Orientation for First Year LLB students

An Orientation Session for First Year LL.B students was organized on 3rd October 2024 by the Second and Third Year students of Lala Lajpatrai College of Law. The event aimed to warmly welcome the newcomers and familiarize them with the college environment and activities. The session included an introductory tour of the college infrastructure, allowing new students to explore the facilities. An interactive segment with the Principal and faculty members gave students an opportunity to engage with their teachers and understand the academic structure. The orientation was followed by a lively Fresher’s Party and Lunch, fostering camaraderie and a sense of belonging among the new entrants. The event successfully set a positive and inclusive tone for the academic journey ahead.

Memorial Lecture

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lala Lajpatrai, a Memorial Lecture was organized on 28th January 2025 by Lala Lajpatrai College of Law in collaboration with Lala Lajpatrai College of Commerce and Economics. The event paid tribute to the legacy of the great freedom fighter and aimed to inspire students with ideals of patriotism and service. The Chief Guest, Captain Indraneel Awasthi of the Indian Navy, delivered an insightful lecture on the topic “Nationalism and the Armed Forces.” He emphasized the role of the military in safeguarding the nation and the spirit of unity and sacrifice that underpins the armed forces. The lecture was well-received by students and faculty and served as a powerful reminder of the values Lala Lajpatrai stood for. The event successfully combined academic enrichment with national pride.

Entrepreneurship Mela – 22nd February 2025

Lala Lajpatrai College of Law, in collaboration with the Department of Vocational Courses (Commerce College), the Rotaract Club, and the University of Mumbai, organized a vibrant Entrepreneurship Mela on 22nd February 2025 within the college premises. The event aimed to ignite entrepreneurial spirit among students by offering them a platform to display their business ideas, products, and management skills. Students set up creative stalls featuring homemade delicacies, artwork, and a jewellery stall by the Law College that drew special attention. A Legal Aid stall also offered free consultations to visitors. The Mela promoted social inclusion by involving self-help groups working with the mentally disabled. The event helped students gain practical experience in marketing, customer engagement, and financial handling. Celebrity Mehndi artist Ms. Veena Nagda graced the occasion and spoke about the importance of entrepreneurship in today’s world. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and guests, and concluded on an inspiring note. It successfully encouraged students to explore self-employment, apply their academic learning, and grow into confident, creative entrepreneurs.

Legal Aid Clinic

On 22nd February 2025, the IQAC Cell of Lala Lajpatrai College of Law organized a Legal Aid Clinic on campus to offer free legal assistance and spread awareness about legal rights and remedies. The initiative was led by Prof. Neeta Rajani, with active participation from students Ishika Parmar, Kratika Sharma, and Abhishek Dhamapurkar. Legal aid was extended to college staff, students, and security personnel on issues such as labour rights, property disputes, contracts, and consumer grievances. The clinic served as a valuable platform for students to apply their legal knowledge in real-life situations under expert supervision. It also reinforced the importance of community service and access to justice as core principles of the legal profession. The event was successful in empowering individuals with legal guidance and offering students practical legal exposure.

Vachan Sanklap Maharashtracha Fortnight (1st–15th January 2025)

As per the University guidelines, the IQAC Cell of Lala Lajpatrai College of Law observed Vachan Sanklap Maharashtracha Fortnight from 1st to 15th January 2025 with active participation from students and staff. The celebration began with Reading Day, where students read legal texts under faculty guidance. This was followed by library visits to familiarize students with the resources available. A Book Review Competition was conducted from 6th to 8th January, encouraging students to review selected titles, promoting critical thinking. A Book Exhibition held on 9th January showcased law and general interest books, generating great interest among participants. On 10th January, the ‘My Book My Friend’ activity saw students review books and share their reflections. Students also read out their reviews in class, enhancing peer learning. On 13th and 14th January, students contributed articles for the college magazine. The fortnight concluded on 15th January with a Closing Ceremony, where feedback was taken and winners were felicitated. The initiative successfully nurtured reading habits, analytical thinking, and intellectual growth among the participants, fulfilling its educational objectives.

The Convocation Day for the Third Year LL.B. students of the academic year 2023–24 was celebrated on 5th April 2025 at 4:00 PM in the college auditorium. The event marked a significant milestone in the lives of the graduating students, honouring their academic accomplishments and journey through law school. Mr. Sanjay Singh, an esteemed author and alumnus of the college, was invited as the Chief Guest. In his insightful address, he encouraged students to uphold the values of truth and justice while stressing the importance of storytelling in the legal field.

The program commenced with a warm welcome and felicitation of the Chief Guest, followed by a prize distribution ceremony where academic toppers were awarded certificates and trophies for their outstanding performance. Outgoing students shared personal experiences, expressing heartfelt gratitude towards their teachers and the college for shaping their legal foundation. The primary objective of the convocation was to recognize academic excellence and provide inspiration through the experiences of a successful alumnus. The outcome of the event was a sense of pride, motivation, and readiness among students as they prepared to embark on their professional paths. The ceremony concluded on a memorable and positive note, leaving a lasting impression on all present.

The Annual Sports Day of Lala Lajpatrai College of Law was held on January 13 and 14, 2025, at the University Sports Pavilion Ground, Marine Lines, Mumbai. The event served as a vibrant celebration of fitness, discipline, and teamwork, involving enthusiastic participation from students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff. Spanning two days, the Sports Day featured a mix of indoor and outdoor competitions designed to encourage a healthy competitive spirit and foster camaraderie among all members of the college.

Day 1 focused on indoor sports and was conducted at the college gymkhana. Students participated in the Carom and Chess tournaments.

Day 2 shifted to outdoor activities at the sports ground. The athletic events included the 100-meter and 400-meter races, where participants demonstrated speed and endurance. Field events like Shot Put and Discus Throw highlighted strength and precision, drawing loud cheers from the audience. One of the most engaging events was the Tug of War, where teaching and non-teaching staff faced off in a friendly yet competitive match, symbolizing teamwork and unity.

Overall, the Sports Day was a grand success, marked by high energy, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of college spirit.

Annual Day and Prize Distribution Ceremony

Lala Lajpatrai College of Law, Mahalaxmi, celebrated its Annual Day and Prize Distribution Ceremony for the academic year 2023–2024 with great enthusiasm and dignity. The event honoured the academic achievements and co-curricular excellence of students, creating an atmosphere of celebration and pride.

The ceremony began with a serene prayer dance followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing wisdom and enlightenment. The college was privileged to host esteemed dignitaries, including IPS Officer Krishna Prakash, Actor Bharat Bhatia, and Dr. Harmeet Kaur Bhasin as the Guests of Honour. Their motivating speeches emphasized values such as integrity, perseverance, and dedication to learning.

The highlight of the event was the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where overall toppers, subject toppers, and semester toppers were awarded certificates and medals. Students excelling in moot court, debates, essay writing, elocution, sports, and cultural competitions were also felicitated, recognizing the college’s commitment to holistic development.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the dignitaries, faculty, and students. The Annual Day served as a reflection of the institution’s ongoing dedication to academic excellence and student empowerment.

The Cultural Tribute, a key highlight of the Annual Day celebrations at Lala Lajpatrai College of Law, was a vibrant showcase of student talent, creativity, and cultural pride. Held in the college auditorium, the event brought together dance, music, and artistic expression in a colourful and heartfelt celebration.

Graced by dignitaries such as IPS Officer Krishna Prakash, actor Mr. Bharat Bhatia, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Bhasin, and musical artist Darshan  Satam, the event was infused with inspiration and encouragement for the student performers.

The tribute began with energetic group dances by FY and SY students, featuring Maharashtra’s folk traditions and progressing into fusion and classical pieces. Their synchronized moves and spirited performances highlighted months of preparation and a shared passion for India’s cultural richness.

Students from TY added a melodious touch with soulful classical and semi-classical singing, moving the audience with their depth and vocal finesse. The Dharshan Satam Band further enhanced the evening’s atmosphere, offering live musical support and inspiring students to embrace music more deeply.

More than just entertainment, the Cultural Tribute served as a platform for students to express themselves beyond academics. It celebrated unity in diversity and reflected the college’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals.

The program concluded with applause from dignitaries and faculty, leaving the audience with lasting memories of tradition, talent, and youthful spirit.

The IQAC Cell of Lala Lajpatrai College of Law organized a Constitution Day celebration on 26th November 2024 to honour the adoption of the Indian Constitution and to spread awareness among students about its significance. The event aimed to instil constitutional values such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, and to remind participants of the foundational principles that govern the nation.

The program began with a collective reading of the Preamble by students, faculty, and staff, symbolizing unity and shared national commitment. This was followed by a thought-provoking discussion on the relevance of the Constitution in today’s democratic framework. Participants reflected on its role in protecting fundamental rights, promoting social justice, and guiding responsible governance.

Mr. Dipak Pawar and Ms. Neeta Rajani led the discussions, which sparked active participation and meaningful insights from the attendees. The celebration also revisited the historical importance of the Constitution, adopted on 26th November 1949, and its transformative impact on Indian society.

The event concluded on a reflective note, emphasizing the role of legal education in promoting constitutional values. It reaffirmed the college’s dedication to fostering informed, responsible, and constitutionally aware citizens.
